The One With Ross, Chandler, Joey, Monica, Rachel and Phoebe!

'It is the worst solitude, to have no true friendships.'
Francis Bacon.

...and now for something from my lighter side...

Two years ago for her birthday, I bought my daughter the complete ten series boxset of that ever-popular american sitcom: Friends. Katy had been badgering me for weeks to get it for her, so at last I gave in. I had never seen a single episode, and quite frankly didn't understand what all the fuss was about.
But I do now!
From the day she received her birthday present, my daughter began to badger me again. This time to watch the DVDs with her. Up until a few weeks ago I resisted, saying I didn't want to watch 'that load of rubbish'.
Now I know what all the fuss was about. To quote the infamous Janice: 'Oh.My.God.'
How excellent is it!
I absolutely love it!
We are nearing the end of the series (Rachel has just told Ross she's pregnant with his baby) and I can't get enough of it. I so want Ross and Rachel to get back together again - no, shhh, don't tell me! - but I also don't want the episodes to finish; watching it makes me laugh so much I can't see for crying!!

So, which Friend are you most like? And which one do you fancy?

I am definitely a Phoebe...and I wouldn't kick Ross out of bed!!

How YOU doing?

I would like to consider myself a Chandler (from the early years). :)

Hello, Akasha! Believe it or not, I don't watch TV and have never actually seen friends. I will ask my kids to explain it to me, and also who I would be most like on the show. Usually they say they broke the mold when they made me. It's not original, but it's probably accurate.

I wrote something pithy and funny and accidentally deleted it. sigh. I can't be a friend. I'm a two dimensional figure always wearing yellow t-shirts with a zig zag black line around it. I have a beagle and a horrible crush on a red headed girl. And my best friend won't lose his blanket.

People find it hard to believe that I never watched a full episode of "Friends." Another show I never watched, "Mash."

I will say this: The last best tv show I watched on DVD was "Six Feet Under." Very worthwhile. Thomas Lynch, an excellent writer and funeral director here in Michigan, was the technical advisor. I highly recommend it.

Your enthusiasm comes out so lovely from this post!

I loved "Friends"!

My favourite sitcom was "Seinfeld". Have you ever watched that?

I always liked Friends. I think it's because the writing was so much better than the standard sit-com. Having watched A LOT of TV growing up, I'm usually able to predict everything that is going to happen in the first five minutes of an episode. Friends was different, I was usually wrong about how an episode would turn out.

While I'm here, I want to recommend (as this is an authors blog) a service I use to publish my novels online. I’m quite happy with it and think other authors might like it:

Illumitas.net.

Ha-ha-ha .... You are so funny!! I watched the show from the beginning with my two daughters and was a great fan. Which one am I? I don't know but I always identified mostly with Phoebe.

Akasha, I hope that you had a great Christmas and I wish you an inspirational and creative new year.

Hug and LOL

As to friends...I wish I had some. I have Internet friends, but all my old friends are either dead or missing from my life. Aside from that, I like the lady friend on Friends who sang "Smelly Cat" the most. She's tall, blonde and willowy. But I wish she was really in my life as a friend, not an icon on a TV show.
